Although everyone knows the Catholic Church became a refuge for child molesters at times, unfortunately, institutional protection of child molesters extends far beyond just the Catholic Church to other local, national and global religious organizations and other institutions parents entrusted with the care of their children. We receive calls and prosecute cases that highlight the scourge remains all-too-prevalent today. While criminal law exists to handle the individual monsters that perpetrate these crimes, until their safe havens are disrupted by holding the institutions accountable, the problem will persist.
