Associate Allison K. Athens was finally able to complete her journey to becoming a licensed attorney in New Mexico on October 12, 2023, when she was sworn in by the New Mexico Supreme Court after signing the Roll of Attorneys (Allison is also licensed in Alaska, Colorado, Washington, and with the Federal Bar). Along with signing the Roll (a large book containing the names of every attorney licensed to practice in New Mexico), another traditional ritual of the swearing-in ceremony was the option to have a “special movant” make a motion to the Court for the admittance of the new attorney to practice law in the state. Allison was honored to have as her special movant Partner Donna M. Connolly, who heaped accolades on Allison in her bid to persuade the Court of Allison's merit. Allison's parents, both attorneys licensed in Alaska, were in attendance and enjoyed the memorable ceremony on the lawn of the UNM School of Law. Associate Roshanna K. Toya, a Member of the Board of Bar Examiners, was also at the ceremony hard at work ushering in all of the newly minted attorneys.
